Welcome, I’m so grateful you found me.
I’m Coach Kate, a certified life coach, mentor, and the host of the Step Zero podcast. My work is rooted in a simple belief: transformation doesn’t begin with fixing what’s broken. It begins with learning how to understand what we’re feeling and making conscious choices from there.
After seven years of personal growth and mentorship through the 12-step recovery program, two years of depth psychology study, along with professional training in life coaching and the Fundamental Life Tools framework, I now focus my work on helping young people develop the emotional tools many adults wish they had learned earlier in life.
I truly believe young people don’t need to be fixed. They need tools for living.
SPECIALTY | Helping Young People Build Emotional Resilience
I specialize in working with tweens, teens, and young adults who are navigating anxiety, pressure, uncertainty, and the overwhelming pace of modern life.
Today’s young people are growing up in a world filled with constant distraction, social pressure, and emotional overload. Many are never taught how to understand what they’re feeling or how to move through difficult emotions in a healthy way.
Through coaching, I help them develop the life skills that support emotional resilience, confidence, and thoughtful decision-making.
Together, we build practical tools that help them navigate stress, relationships, self-doubt, and challenges without turning to unhealthy coping habits.

My work today is deeply connected to my own life experience.
Seven years ago, I stopped drinking alcohol and began a journey of personal growth through the 12-step program. Through that process, I discovered something powerful: the tools that helped transform my life were never about alcohol alone. They were about learning how to understand emotions, take responsibility for choices, and build a deeper connection with myself and others.
Those tools changed everything.
As my life began to shift, I felt called to help others experience that same kind of transformation. I began mentoring others, studied depth psychology in graduate school, and interned as a group facilitator at an outpatient mental health recovery center.
That experience taught me something important about the kind of work I felt most drawn to do. In many traditional treatment settings, the focus is often on stabilization and symptom management. Those services are incredibly important, but I realized that my passion lived in a different space: working with people who feel ready to actively participate in their growth, explore their inner world, and take meaningful steps toward the life they want to create.
That realization ultimately led me to pursue certification as a life coach. Coaching allows me to meet people exactly where they are and help them move toward where they want to be. It is forward-focused, collaborative, and built around the belief that change happens when someone is willing to look inward, take ownership, and practice new ways of living. But one question kept coming back to me: What if we learned these tools earlier?
What if young people were taught how to understand stress, anxiety, and difficult emotions before unhealthy coping habits ever had the chance to take root?
That question is what led me here. Today I coach tweens and teens how to build emotional resilience, self-awareness, and confidence so they can navigate life’s challenges without shutting down, numbing out, or losing themselves along the way.
Practical Tools for Real Life
My coaching combines professional life coaching methods, seven years of experience mentoring others through emotional recovery, and the Fundamental Life Tools framework. Together, these approaches help young people develop key life skills such as:
• Awareness
• Acceptance
• Intention
• Gratitude
• Compassion
• Forgiveness
• Connection
Through guided coaching sessions, teens learn how their thoughts, emotions, and choices influence their lives. More importantly, they learn how to respond to challenges with clarity and confidence. Each session includes open conversation about what they’re experiencing and practical tools they can immediately apply in their daily life.
A Mentor Who Understands the Journey
What sets my work apart is not just the tools I teach, but the space I hold. I meet young people exactly where they are, without judgment or pressure.
The young adults I work with feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or unsure how to talk about what they’re going through. My role is creating a space where they feel safe to explore those feelings, while developing the skills to navigate them.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is self-awareness, resilience, and confidence.
Coaching is future-focused and action-oriented. While therapy often focuses on mental health issues and healing past and present experiences, coaching focuses on building the skills needed to move forward in life.
In our work together, we acknowledge the past when it’s helpful, but we spend most of our time developing tools that help young people navigate life as it unfolds.
This work empowers teens to become more self-aware, more confident, and more capable of making thoughtful choices in their daily lives.
If you’re a parent looking to support your child in building emotional resilience, confidence, and healthy coping tools, I would love to connect with you. You can schedule a complimentary 30-minute discovery call to learn more about how I help and whether it would be a good fit.
